I WOULD MISS YOU OLD YEAR

The new year has come. Rather a new decade has come. When the country was welcoming at the midnight stroke of clock, with crackers and lights I was lying on my bed staring at the starlit winter sky and wondering what is this happiness all about, why people are so happy to enter into a NEW YEAR ?Isn't it like every other passing day where most of the population in a country like india think what to eat tomorrow, how to earn tomorrow! Does the moment of entering into a new year wash away the thoughts, the worries, the desires, the hopelessness? When 2009 begun we said 'well ! the 2008 leaves and now there is a dawn of happiness' as if we awaited long for this 2009 to come and now we are relieved.but when we are at the door of 2010 we repeat the phrase ,only we replace 2008 by 2009. we would do this over and over again. But why? Are we hippocrits? Why dont we respect anything that comes to an end?Why do we always need salute the rising sun?Why dont we say bye bye 2009, we miss u?This use and throw nature of human behavior shocks me.
On the new year eve I met a girl on net named Tanya Wee.She was from philippines.she poured her heart to a stranger and said that she was to lose her shelter in the new year as she had no money ,as she was fired from her call center job.She was to return to her countryside where everyone was looking her way ,that when she would return with some money
for her father's treatment. For the past three months it had been like this but she never opened her mouth to her family. She hoped of getting some way to earn or other but failed. So the new year wasnt giving her any santa clause's gift and the hardships prevail .On my part, only i could do is to feel sorry for her.Helpless, as I was in 2009,I am in 2010.Did the midnight stroke of clock on which we enterd into a new year change anything for us that prevailed.Yeah but there is one hope that it can change our condition. This is the hope on wich we live,we breathe,we get the strength to fight each day's battle. In that case we hope for the best every day, don't we?So why don't we welcome every single day?
A year completes with achievements and losses in various proportions. If we can curse a year for the losses we incurred we must also thank it for our gains.Would we forget our parents, when they grow old, just because they scolded us and would never thank them for their love and support.Ignorance to the old year can be compared to this.I mentioned it because in life these small, ignorant attitudes grow big as we feed them for days, months, years and finally destroys our ability to think,to reason .It makes us total ignorant. So welcoming the guest when they come and cursing them when they leave is not a humane attitude.
I think the we should be happy to welcome the new year but at the same time we should be thankful to the passing year for bringing us close to the new year, for bringing us close to the rays of hope.
Lets be kind and loving to all material and immaterial things.

  2. So now again we are at the dusk of another year(2011). Again in the end of this december we wish our parents, relatives, friends a happy and prosperous new year ahead. Enjoy ourselves at 31st midnight to the fullest. Some get drunk, some burst crackers, some have late night parties...the list goes on. But are these really necessary? Well to explain this point I would like to say that its human nature to find reasons for enjoying and celebrating. Payel rightly framed it "Welcome every single day".. And that is the answer to your question. Every single day brings to us new opportunities, new hopes, new reasons to be all the more happier. So does every week bring you 7x happiness, so every month brings 30 or 31x happiness and so the coming year would bring 365x happiness. So we wish our dear ones that may they get the whole 365x happiness. And with this wish we get an opportunity to CELEBRATE the coming 365 days' happiness in one night.
But of course that doesn't mean that we don't see sorrow and misery at all the whole year long neither does it mean that with the approach of the new year all our past difficulties, pain of the past year would come to an end. But for that one night we can try to forget our difficulties and enjoy and welcome the coming year. Its completely your choice how to enjoy.
Now as Payel said about Tanaya Wee. Well may be she'll be getting more oppurtunities in the coming year, new hopes, new well wishers etc..
But yes every new year will become an old year soon after 365 days. Every year gives or has already given us many things both materialistic and non-materialistic. So with the advent of the new year we should be equally thankful to the previous year also...
